Raleigh’s territory consists primarily of hills, forests, and grassy plains great for pasture and farmlands. It borders Kriteria and Anthemia in the north, Riveria in the west, and Riter’s Sea in the south and east. Its western border is formed by the Living River, the largest and longest river on the continent. Verdan lines the large body of water, Pastoral Lake. The Southern Forest covers the northwest corner of the kingdom, and a series of hills, gorges, and low mountains form a natural barrier between it and Kriteria. Haladon’s Pass is the only direct route between the two kingdoms.
The kingdom’s only villages are Smalleville, Verdan, and Gramel. While its capital, Han-Raleigh, is younger and smaller than the capitals of the surrounding kingdoms, it is still formidable and decently populated. Its previous capital city was razed during the Technological War. The ruins of which stand just outside the southern walls of the current city. While Ralieans live simple lives, often just working trades within their town of birth, the kingdom’s citizens have more peace and freedom than the other Southern Kingdoms. Richard Rilanson has ruled Raleigh for ten years during which the kingdom has had peace and prosperity greater than that of his father or grandfather.
Raleigh is the home kingdom for the main characters Anthony Alderson, Paul Dioson, Titus Rufuson, and Gideon Josephson in Anthemia: Kingdom of Heroes. Anthony and Titus attend studies at the newly founded Raleigh Academy. Paul is tutored in the palace since he is the son of the king’s advisor and right hand man, Diotrophes. Gideon studies at home where he also works on his family’s farm.
