Adulting

Yes, I had some battle training
Sure, I have some simple armor
And a sword, but still, oh my word,
I didn’t know I was being hemmed in,
Thrown in with the lions and warriors.
Everyday, life is so draining.

I’m here on the stadium grounds,
Having to fend, fight, for myself
No telling if I will win,
Or go down. The fighting’s so hectic,
It’s a coin toss, if my life’s loss
Or I’ll receive the victor’s crown.

The whole crowd thinks I’m in my prime,
That with all my health and vigor,
Will always be invincible.
Who sees passed breastplate and visor,
To the face of a scared young boy?
Apparently, this is my time.
